Underwriting Analyst
Location: Colorado Springs, CO – this is not a remote work position

Orchard Alliance, the stewardship and generosity ministry of The Christian and Missionary Alliance (The Alliance), has been serving individuals and churches where faith and finance meet for over sixty years.
This position focuses on loan application underwriting, loan inquiries and processing new and matured loans. Reports to the Vice President for Lending.
Primary duties:
- Process loan applications – analyze financial and other information; interact with customers, as needed, to verify information and to ensure receipt of all required documentation and authorizations; manage application-related files in OA’s file sharing solution; support site visit coordination, as needed; prepare application materials for the various loan approval bodies.
- Process new loan approvals – notify the relevant parties of loan approvals; set up new loan accounts in OA’s core banking software; help set up and manage the content of loan file folders, as needed.
- Process loan satisfactions – draft and review loan satisfaction documents; submit satisfaction documents to the relevant recording offices; coordinate payment of all related recording costs.
Experience:
- 3-4 Years’ experience in accounting, loans or equivalent experience and/or training
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, and written and oral communications.
- Ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization

- Conduct interviews, primarily via video conference or phone, with Alliance church leaders, Orchard Alliance investors, or other individuals who have a potential role in advancing Orchard Alliance’s mission and vision. Based on the transcripts from those recorded interviews, craft articles to be released through Orchard Alliance media channels
- Write articles to be posted on Orchard’s Faith and Finance website that encourage biblical stewardship and generosity
- Assist in the editorial refinement of communications being generated by Orchard Alliance offices. This includes editing articles and documents, and email communications for grammatical accuracy, conciseness, and engagement potential.

This position focuses on supporting the organization’s accounting audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The role will also assist with preparing for the trust administration system transition from FIS Charlotte (SunGard) to Cheetah, as well as supporting our new partnership with auditors Capin Crouse LLP for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Primary duties:
- Assist in preparing audit workpapers related to assets, liabilities, loans, investments, trusts, fixed assets and other balances and activities.
- Assist in analytical procedures to assess the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Collaborate with accounting and audit team members to complete assigned tasks within deadlines.
- Prepare accounting schedules related to the June 30 year-end and system tasks, as assigned.
- Contribute to the improvement of audit processes and procedures through feedback and suggestions.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- A desire to gain practical exposure to nonprofit accounting
