All I Can
June 23, 2022
I enjoy all kinds of music, but I especially like jazz guitar. I remember hearing a story about one great guitarist who was contemplating the brilliance of another player. While it was tempting for him to compare himself unfavorably to the other man’s ability, he chose to focus less on what he couldn’t do and more on what he could do. He recalls telling himself to “find something you CAN do and do that.”
As Christ-followers, we should have a similar attitude. I believe we sense the Lord’s heart for the needs of people all around us and throughout the world. Those needs are overwhelming, and it’s easy to feel like there just isn’t much we can do. It’s great to see others who do have the means to accomplish significant things for the Kingdom, and sometimes we wish we could do the same. But God expects us to give from what we have, not from what we don’t have. Basketball coach John Wooden said, “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” I can think of many scriptural examples of God making much of the little that was available and offered. If He can feed 5,000 men with five small barley loaves and two small fish, imagine what He can do when all believers do all we can!
But God expects us to give from what we have, not from what we don’t have.
Orchard Alliance is here to help. With the right tools and resources, you can do more than you ever thought possible. One of those tools might be a Donor Advised Fund (DAF). Recently, Orchard Alliance was able to help a couple deed a small townhouse they used as a rental to their DAF. By doing so, they were able to avoid hefty capital gains taxes and establish a sizable balance in their DAF that they could give from over time. They never dreamed they’d be able to give such a significant gift to the ministry they loved.
This is just one example of how having a biblically-based plan—tailored with the most effective tools—can help you do all you can for maximum Kingdom impact.
