Like most of you, I marvel at not only the magnitude of the challenges and uncertainties we face right now, but also the speed with which they came upon us. The pandemic, a faltering economy, severe unemployment, and societal upheaval on several levels gives us much to be concerned about, grieved about, and puzzled about.

The needs of those around us can also cause stress and anxiety as we try to balance it all. Ministries we support and care about call to us, as well as the needs in our own families. Paying the bills, trying to save for emergencies, and keep retirement planning on track can also be worrisome. When we feel pulled in so many directions, it can be difficult to know what to do.

So, how do we manage all this?

How do we continue to be generous with our time, talent, treasures, and energy when so many things need our attention? Here’s one truth I have been contemplating that you may find helpful. Paul admonished the Corinthians to “excel in this grace of giving.” Dr. A.B. Simpson said that “Grace is something given to us; not something that we give, but something that we get…He wants to give you the spirit of giving; something you must do in the power of the Holy Spirit, something you must take as a divine gift. It belongs to the essential qualities of holiness and right living.” In these uncertain times, may we seek the Lord for this grace of giving. I pray we have great faith in His love, promises, and provision, and experience the joy of using what He has entrusted to us to please Him and accomplish His purposes. Orchard Alliance is here to walk with you and to provide tools and resources for the journey.
